Andrew J. Rameas, 33, of Killeen, Texas, formerly of Waynesburg, died Monday, December 20, 2010, in Killeen, as the result of a traffic accident.

He was born October 2, 1977, in Washington, a son of Peter D. and Janet Blair Rameas of Waynesburg, who survive.

Mr. Rameas was a 1996 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School. He was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy and was a trained accident investigator.

An Iraq War veteran, he served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserve, 363rd Military Police Combat Support.

Mr. Rameas was employed as a police officer with Harker Heights Police Department in Harker Heights, Texas. During his career, he also had worked as an officer for North Belle Vernon Police Department and Carmichaels Borough Police Department. He was a former deputy sheriff with the Greene County Sheriff's Department. He had served as a federal police officer at Fort Hood, Texas, and at the V.A. Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a sister, Amy Rameas Diamond (Jason) of Waynesburg; a brother, Patrick Allen Rameas (Julie) of Wilmington, N.C.; a sister, Amanda Rameas Gansor (Barry) of Bobtown; his maternal grandmother, Sara B. Blair of Waynesburg; his girlfriend, Christina Pifer of Aliquippa; a nephew, Patrick Rameas II; and two nieces, Peyton Rameas and Blair Morgan Gansor.

He also leaves his beloved dogs, Cuffs and Tazer.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church, 303 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 24, with Dr. Stewart Johnson, the Rev. Paul Salosky Jr. and the Rev. Scott Blair officiating, followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township, with graveside military rites by the U.S. Army.
